For more than a decade, Tyler Aklestad and Tyson Johnson have been racing Ski-Doo sleds in the Iron Dog, an epic cross country snowmobile race in Alaska. This past February, they won the 2,031-mile race.
To help them celebrate, Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) hosted Aklestad, Johnson and their dealer partner, Team CC, on a VIP visit to BRP headquarters in Valcourt, Québec. In June, they toured the manufacturing plant, new Bombardier Museum, Design and Innovation Centre, new Research and Development facility, Valcourt Race Shop and even the employee restaurant. They also spent a few days at the Montreal Grand Prix Formula 1 race.
Aklestad and Johnson also debriefed with BRP's designers and engineers, offering valuable racer feedback that might be used to improve Ski-Doo snowmobiles like the 2017 MXZ X-RS Iron Dog sled.
BRP will have a full interview with Aklestad and Johnson, moderated by racer and Ski-Doo Backcountry Expert Carl Kuster, online this fall.
