Leighton Motorsports announced that the 2016-17 snocross season will be its last. The team is liquidating at the end of the season, which will come after the final rounds take place in Lake Geneva, Wis., March 17-19, 2017.

With the recent announcement of Trevor Leighton’s retirement from professional snocross, the team has made the decision to end its run on the national tour and will begin selling all of their sleds, parts and equipment, including a Kenworth tractor and Featherlite hauler.

It's been an up-and-down season for the Leighton Team, with the biggest blow coming on the series stop in Colorado, when Pro Open racer Leighton injured his knee. It was the latest in a series of significant race-related injuries that ultimately caused Leighton to retire from the sport mid-season.

The team's other pro racer, Corin Todd, has had an inconsistent season, and currently sits eighth in the Pro Open season points standings. Todd has performed very well in qualifying rounds, but mechanical issues and crashes have sabotaged his efforts in finals all season long. With a solid weekend in the upcoming races at Lake Geneva and a little help, Todd still has an outside chance for a top-five finish in the points standings.

The team has also placed their Zimmerman, Minn., race headquarters on the market, complete with new 60x120-foot race shop, house and outbuilding.

The race shop includes a fabrication area, three mechanic bays, a drive-thru truck wash, loft storage, fitness area, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, a laundry room and a kitchen.

The house contains five bedrooms, two baths, a living room, a family room, a laundry room and an attached two-car garage.
