The Senate in Wyoming passed its first hurdle February 25 in increasing the snowmobile registration fee by $10, according to the Wyoming Star Tribune.
The bill was passed by a 4-1 vote in the Senate Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Committee.
If it passes the floor and is signed by Gov. Matt Mead, registration will cost $35 for individuals.
Lobbyists for the Wyoming State Snowmobile Association and Snowy Range Snowmobile Club attended the meeting and said members wanted to pay more for better trail maintenance.
Snowmobilers who only use private land would not be effected by the bill.
