Over the past few seasons we have noticed a drop in rider entries for our Vintage and Vintage II classes so over the summer we had changed these classes into an Improved Stock class to help alleviate the issues rider’s were having finding parts to keep their old iron running.

Now after our opening round in Houghton, MI we noticed that entries in these classes stayed stagnant like they had the previous season so we sat down with the few racers that run these classes to find out a solution to help boost entries in the Vintage classes. The one thing we kept hearing was that if our Vintage and Vintage II classes were opened up to later years it would help bring in other riders.

After hearing their thoughts we then discussed our options. We had already been talking about changing the year ranges for both classes for the 2016 season but with only one race in the books for 2015 and very few riders that ran these classes we would go back to the effected rider’s to see if they would vote to approve the rule change effective immediately, that vote was unanimous in favor.

Effective 12/23/14 at all Cor PowerSports events Vintage class will now be 30 model years and older and the Vintage II class will be 15 model years and older.

Both will also follow Improved Stock format of rules as parts for some of these sleds has become obsolete or extremely expensive to purchase from collectors so by changing to Improved Stock it opens up the aftermarket industry to these racers for parts.

This now means for Vintage class it is open to any 1985 model year and older 600cc and smaller snowmobile and Vintage II will be 2000 model year and older 600cc and smaller snowmobile.

Rules and the website will be updated shortly. This takes effect immediately and these sleds will be allowed at all Cor PowerSports events from this day forward. Next race up is Jan 10-11 at Lake of the Torches Casino in Lac Du Flambeau, WI.- Todd Meyers
