After a rough start on the national snocross scene, AmSnow Racer, Kyle Kunstman, notched his first win of the season at the regional level just before the holidays arrived.
Racing in the pro ranks at Digger Doug Gust Sno-X in Silver Lake, Wis., Kunstman took a first and third in his qualifying heats. He then came from 5th place in the final to take the checkers in dramatic fashion, passing into the lead with one lap to go.
“I was able to hit my marks for all 15 laps with no mistakes to pull into first on the white flag lap and was able to put some distance between me and second by the checkered flag,” Kunstman said.
In two national races this season, Kunstman has faced challenges from both equipment and stiff competition on the track. He’s still in search of his first finals appearance at a national event this season.
“I hope this is a sign of things to come,” he said.
His newfound confidence should go a long way to increasing success on the national level.
