Eagle River, the home of the Derby Track and a mecca for sleds of all years, was lit up on Sunday night and the Wisconsin cold was biting. Thankfully, so were the racing studs on all the tracks of the racer's and during the final WC there was not a single accident. This was miraculous and a testament to the excellent driving skills of these racers as the snow dust on the ice-oval was blinding and the night lights made the whole track look like a pixelating video game. Nonetheless 26-year old Matt Goede of New Germany, Minnesota won his 2nd WC this year! Second Place went to Curtis Pederson of Gobles, Michigan, and third Place went to Jacob Goede of New Germany, Minn. (Matt’s brother). All three were riding Polaris Starfires. Matt’s brother Jacob has also won ER WC two times.
American Snowmobiler was on hand to present the American Snowmobiler Eagle trophy to the winner and congratulate all the drivers on a job well done.
