In its second go-round with the SR Viper line, Yamaha introduced the consumers to their LE (limited) models. Naturally, we had to have one of the blue and orange variety. Here’s some quick observations for the season so far:

Ups: Ride comfort is top-notch, engine performance is right up there with any 600cc 2-stroke in the trails, fuel economy is very good, strong out of the hole with great acceleration, improved handling over previous year’s model.

Downs: Cold ride (side panels seem to funnel air toward rider rather than away), push-button reverse is difficult to use with gloves on, key location is tough to access as well, minimal storage, fuel line froze in extreme cold conditions.

We added a few aftermarket accessories to this machine to improve warmth, storage and other things. We’ll have a full Long-Term Test report in an upcoming issue of AmSnow. Don’t forget to renew or subscribe today!
