As snowmobile racing season quickly approaches, Cor Powersports Midwest Extreme Snowmobile Challenge (MESC) Triple Crown series has announced the addition of a snow bike class to their 2016 race season.

Discussions started last April after Timbersled, a leading manufacturer of snow bike conversion kits, saw terrific response to their demo rides at the MESC event held in Lutsen, Minn.

"We have been talking with riders, reps, and industry insiders and there is a lot of excitement about adding these snow bikes to our events," a statement released by Cor Powersports read.

The snow bike competition will include the same format and race disciplines as the MESC snowmobile races. The MESC Triple Crown series will be three events in Spring of 2016 that will include Hill X, Hillclimbs, and Terrain X. The new Terrain X discipline will be very similar to motocross; it will be timed qualifying in the morning for gate pic, two moto format, overall will be decided by the combined finish of the two moto's. The Sport class races will be 10 minutes plus two laps, Semi Pro 15 minutes plus two laps, and Pro will be 20 minutes plus two laps. The race course will be a 1.5-2 mile natural terrain course, no man made jumps or features; track will have minimal grooming for safety but otherwise it will be like motocross and the second moto will be a lot rougher than the first.

Cor Powersports is working out details again with the Jackson Hole Snow Devils to have the MESC series be a Jackson Hole qualifying event for the 2017 World Championship Hilllclimbs.
