Polaris racer Aaron Christensen won his first Pro 600 at the USXC East Range 100 on February 16 in Hoyt Lakes, Minn.
Polaris rider, Bobby Menne, also won his first Pro Open class.
The 10-mile course included a lake, swamp, power line, forest roads and single track woods running.
Ryan Simons had but then lost the lead in the 7-lap, 100-mile DRIFT Racing Pro 600 race when his Arctic Cat snowmobile blew a belt. Christensen got by him on the time sheets and never looked back, claiming his first win in almost two full years (Warroad 2011) with a total race time of 1:32:54.354, 27.603-seconds ahead of second place finisher Zach Herfindahl. Simons came in third 1:01.426 behind Christensen and Menne was fourth 2:12.847 back.
Menne won the 4-lap Speedwerx Pro Open race with a time of 52:11.759, 8.569-seconds ahead of Christensen and 23.308 ahead of Herfindahl. Polaris rider Spencer Kadllec won the Polaris Semi-Pro 600 race with a 4-lap time of 54:06.369, 42.351-seconds ahead of Alex Hetteen. Yamaha rider Ben Lindbom won the 4-lap AMSOIL Semi-Pro Improved race with a time of 55:44.443, 43.285-seconds ahead of Arctic Cat rider Nate Moritz.
“The terrain in Hoyt Lakes is much different than what USXC racers are used to,” said USXC owner Brian Nelson. “The woods, power line runs and forest roads provided some new challenges for the riders and it made for a fun race.”
