Clik here to view.Once again, this year's relatively mild winter weather in the Midwest is wreaking havoc on snowmobile racing schedules. National Straightline Snowmobile Racing (NSSR) officials released its most recent round of schedule changes, indicating that the start of the ice drag racing season would now be pushed all the way back to Feb. 13, due to a lack of sufficient ice thickness in most locations.
- RESCHEDULED: Ice Kahuna Festival season opener, in Fairmont, Minn., originally scheduled for Jan. 23, has been moved to Feb. 20.
- CANCELLED: Winter Festiva, Howard Lake, Minn., Jan. 30. Will be made up in 2017.
- CANCELLED: Battle on the Bay at CZ GEANO’s in Little Suamico, Wis. (19 miles north of Green Bay), Feb. 6. As of Jan. 5, there was still open water on the bay.
The NSSR season will now kick off at the Sweetheart Race on Forest Lake, near Forest Lake, Minn. (Feb. 13). The event will be hosted by Vannelli’s by the Lake, Waldoch Sports, Straightline Performance, and PowerMadd.
The Winterfest Finale in Chetek, Wis., is still scheduled to take place on Feb. 27.
