Last month, I embarked on an Epic Snowmobile Adventure to travel the Western United States in search of snow, while promoting avalanche safety and highlighting the differences between trail riding and mountain riding. The project would not have been possible without numerous sponsors, supporters and well-wishers, with one of those being Caliber Products Inc.

I met the folks at Caliber many years ago as we traveled to the same snowmobile events promoting the industry we love. I felt an immediate connection with the Caliber team, all of whom have the energy, personality and drive that I find addictive in the snowmobile industry.

What also drew me to the company was their forward thinking strategies in terms of product development, marketing, and customer engagement. Without getting too technical here, I pretty much thought that they were all around good people and had some awesome products. So I was pretty excited when I had the opportunity to use some of their products during a recent snowmobile trip.

My adventure out west with sponsored freerider Stephanie Santeford consisted of travelling 2000 miles across three different states with a pickup truck and two Polaris sleds. Obviously, we needed to have our stuff together when it came to loading and unloading the sleds, not to mention ensuring they were properly clamped down.

Stephanie had outfitted her truck with a sled deck prior to the trip, which allowed for us to gain additional storage space underneath the sleds. When we picked up the Pink Hawk snowmobile from Van Amburg Enterprises, I saw how easily Stephanie was able to ride the sled up onto the deck. She advised me that the Caliber multi-glides she had previously installed were key to ensuring that the sled stayed in place on the ramp. Looking at them in more detail, I noticed how the deep channels were a perfect fit to help guide the ski carbides along the ramp. There was no way those skis were coming off the ramp!

Time after time, Stephanie loaded and unloaded the sleds over the course of our 13 day trip with complete ease. The glides were crucial to this, and also helped to protect the ramp and skis from damage caused by friction. I found myself looking at Stephanie’s set up and mapping out in my head what other accessories would fit well on the deck; track mats, grip glides… oh the possibilities! Either way, we were happy to have an uneventful and stress free experience with the sleds because as we all know, this isn’t always the case while loading and unloading.
